Boom Festival Newsletter - October

Autumn is slowly making its way here. After 25 000 people from 85 different countries met at Boom Festival 2008, its now time for renewal – of nature. Boom dismantling is coming to an end and soon everything will be just one great and beautiful memory. But not all will disappear – Boom Radio and Boom Web TV will bring you Boom Festival’s next episodes

Boom 2008 disappears piece by piece

Approximately 20 people are still working everyday at the Idanha-a-Nova lake. Tons of rubbish is being cleaned, structures are being dismantled, decorations put away, and soon the land may be returned to its natural cycles without human presence.
Because most constructions at Boom 2008 were made from organic materials, we see beautiful images unfolding everyday: now the cows are literally eating Boom 2008! The straw bale constructions have become food for these wonderful creatures.

Water Treatment in Full Swing On Site

All water from the showers is being recycled. Through our water treatment systems we managed to evaporate 200,000 liters of water from the showers. Now we have 1,200,000 liters of water waiting in a lake for further treatment based on aquatic plants as you can see in the photo. The plants are azolla sp, eichordia sp, lemna sp, typha sp, phragmites sp, juncos sp and cyperus sp. The water will be monitored by a local laboratory and within some months when clean, will be return to the source. This is Booms contribution for a new awareness of water recycling.

Since 2002 Boom has been developing its own newspaper. The "Daily Dragon" is a platform for citizen journalists and the Boom Team to cooperate. The newspaper relates some of the Boom facts, the program and it's an insight into some of the festival dimensions.
