Confluence: Presentations

This year's evening program in the Liminal Village will once again feature a variety of multimedia presentations from an international line up of accomplished speakers.

Taking participants on a visionary flight into the spirit of the age, these keynote presentations will travel into the liminal spaces between people and the planet, exploring the edges and tracing the contours.

He is the author of "The Visionary State: A Journey through California’s Spiritual Landscape," and "TechGnosis: Myth, Magic, and Mysticism in the Information Age." Robert Venosa - ‘Some History, Thoughts and Images on Visionary Art’

www.venosa.com

The Visionary art of Robert Venosa has been exhibited worldwide and is represented in major collections, including those of noted museums, rock stars and European aristocracy.

If the most exciting art-making one can hope to encounter is an exploration of the furthest realities of the imagination, then Robert Venosa must surely rank among the luminaries of our era.

"Bravo Venosa! Dali is pleased to see spiritual madness painted with such a fine technique." - Salvador Dali

Martina Hoffmann - ‘Some History, Thoughts and Images on Visionary Art’

www.martinahoffmann.com

Martina Hoffmann, visionary artist, believes strongly in the healing powers of art. Her work has been informed by altered states of consciousness, and shows a deep connection to the sacred feminine.

Internationally exhibited and published, Hoffmann works in both the US and Spain.

“The visionary artist makes visible the more subtle states of consciousness and creates maps that directly reflect consciousness.
My work hopes to bring awareness to our interconnectedness with all life throughout the universe as well as to our oneness as a human family.
In using art as a tool for transformation, we have the opportunity to create a reality as beautiful, healthy and strong as our imagination permits.”

"Your images show an artistry in painting that suffices to produce amazement and admiration for which words fail me."
- Dr. Albert Hofmann, Switzerland

Matt Black - ‘Art, Music & Interconnectedness’

www.ninjatune.net
http://www.myspace.com/coldcut

From the era-defining debut single ‘Say Kids, What Time Is It?’ that introduced a generation to the delights of sampled music, their timeless Solid Steel radio show and the establishment of the revered Ninja Tune label, to their pioneering work at the vanguard of audio-visual milestones, Coldcut’s ability to remain radically visionary in their 20 year career is little short of astounding.

Join Matt Black, one of the founding members of world renowned Coldcut and Ninja Tune, for his exploration of the question; ‘how does one make art that promotes the realisation of interconnectedness?’. This will be a journey through audiovisual art, its techniques and history, leading into its contemporary political and spiritual relevance.
In addition, Matt will also be playing a DJ set at Groovy Beach.

Rick Doblin, Ph.D. - ‘Psychedelic Research: Toward a Global Spirituality’

www.maps.org

Rick is the founder and president of MAPS. His dissertation (Public Policy, Harvard's Kennedy School of Government) was on "The Regulation of the Medical Use of Psychedelics and Marijuana," and his master's thesis (Harvard) focused on the attitudes and experiences of oncologists concerning the medical use of marijuana. His undergraduate thesis (New College of Florida) was a twenty-five year follow-up to the classic Good Friday Experiment, which evaluated the potential of psychedelic drugs to catalyze religious experiences. He has also conducted a thirty-four year follow-up study to Tim Leary's Concord Prison experiment.

Doblin has also studied with Stan Grof, M.D., and was in the first group to become certified as holotropic breathwork practitioners. His professional goal is to help develop legal contexts for the beneficial uses of psychedelics and marijuana, primarily as prescription medicines but also for personal growth for otherwise "healthy" people, and to also become a legally licensed psychedelic therapist.
