Extrawelt, Exercise One e Paul Ritch no Boom Festival 2008 - April Newsletter‏

The DIY mentality is still much in evidence across the whole arts, education and culture projects at Boom 2008. We’re sure that some of the most exciting breakthroughs of this Boom will come from the artists that are crosspollinating their aesthetics with other art forms – be it in paint, installations, music, performances or theatre. But there’s a whole army of poets, activists, enthusiasts, to name just a few, following in close pursuit.
So, look out for the novelties, watch out for the genuine arts and free expressions. You have all five senses for this purpose! We know you’re curious about what will happen at Boom so we start now to announce some of our invitees for Boom 2008.

A New Challenge: Education At Boom Permaculture is a major inspiration for the design of Boom 2008. From May 31st until the end of July experts on Permaculture and sustainable living will be developing credited courses near the lake of Idanha-a-Nova (the Boom venue):
Urban Edible Gardens and Soil Ecology (31st May to 2nd June)
Permaculture (7th - 29th June)
Sustainable Green Construction (9th - 26th June)
Water In The Environment (5th - 9th of July)
DIY Urban to Rural (19th - 20th July)
All courses are certified by IPEC Ecocenter. For almost two months, you can be learning environmentally friendly techniques, chatting about nature, and experiencing new models of living, while getting a rare glimpse into sustainability in Unesco's Geopark surroundings.

Music: Some Delicatessen Already Confirmed Gocoo are twelve Taiko drummers from Tokyo (Japan) who capture their audience with original grooves woven with Japanese drums, Taikos. They are presenting two shows: one in the Dance Floor, and on the following day the Sacred Fire area is hosting the neo-tribal music journey from the Japanese musical heritage to modern music lovers.
On the other hand Groovy Beach will feature funk, dub and reggae in the afternoon, progressing into dubstep and breaks and late at night will turn into minimal, neo-trance or deep techno. It is a place for crosspollinating some of the newest and most genuine approaches in modern electronic music.
The German duo Extrawelt is performing in the Groovy Beach alongside other cutting-edge acts such as Exercise One, Paul Ritch. Moreover in the Groovy Beach we’re preparing the biggest gathering of dubstep and 2 step ever developed in Iberian Peninsula within a festival. Stay tuned…

Public Art In Boom: From Videoart To 3D And Graffiti From paint to installations, land art or videoart, graffiti and stencil there’s a wide range of artists and art domains in Boom. Some of the decoration artists with works in progress are Sola, Flowers of Life and Cosmic Walkers.
Public art in Boom is enhanced by the magical installations and 3D imagery by projects such as Kaleidoscopik Creature or Sagaz Corp. Visual Farm and Laborg are some of the artists that are presenting cutting-edge bio-electronic imagery.
